In this video, John explains Model 9, Prove or Improve from his book Thinking for Success. This model emphasizes how we respond to feedback and criticism. When others offer input, whether business, relationships or personal growth, it should be viewed as a gift rather than a threat. Instead of becoming defensive or trying to prove the other person wrong, the more productive response is to pause and consider whether there is any truth in what is being said.
The key question becomes: Am I trying to prove I’m right or am I willing to improve?
Successful people lean toward improvement. They remain open, curious and willing to adjust when feedback reveals a blind spot or opportunity for growth. Even when feedback is imperfect or partially incorrect there is often something useful to learn from it.
